Tampa, FL – Florida pavement open wheel standout Wendy Mathis kicked off her 2008 quest for the O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series (USCS) Asphalt Thunder championship by collecting a Top 5 finish and also picked up the Huggins Cams Hard Charger of the Race Award. The first race of the USCS Asphalt Thunder season was held at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, GA.

“This is a great way to start the 2008 season in my pavement sprint car,” said Mathis. “It's quite gratifying to have our hard work recognized with the Huggins Cams Hard Charger Award. This is just icing on the cake to go along with our top five finish tonight.”
